About GIAPE

We would like to begin by acknowledging that the land on wich we gather is the tradicional and ancestral territory of the Guarani People. We thank for the opportunity to be here, respecting this culture, history and traditions, learning and sharing hopes about education, arts and friendship.”

The Research Group on Childhood, Art, Educational and Psychosocial Practices (GIAPE), linked to the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), was born in early 2014 and that year was certified by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). The group was proposed by its leader, Prof. Dr. Lucia Maria Salgado dos Santos Lombardi (CV: http://lattes.cnpq.br/5697508831302188), based on the needs of her field of work and research, as well as the manifestations of students and education professionals from schools in the region, about the desire and need for more space in teacher preparation programs for studies, research and projects related to pedagogical work with cultures and artistic languages with children and adolescents, especially in schools.

GIAPE produces reflections, projects, research and academic-scientific events in the field of teacher preparation around pedagogical, cultural and artistic practices with children and their childhoods. The principle of academic excellence, linked to social commitment, underpins our purpose of re(creating) and making knowledge accessible through three inseparable dimensions: teaching, research and university extension. These are the three main focuses that, in an inseparable way, give concreteness to our work.

GIAPE is part of "DIÁLOGOS - International Research Network" (https://dialogosrededepesquisa.wordpress.com/), which involves 12 groups, centers and laboratories in Brazil and abroad, with the objective of carrying out research in a collaborative perspective in areas of education, language and arts.
